Overcoming Obstacles to Fully Realizing EFT/ERA Cost Savings

Explore the eight common roadblocks our clients have encountered on the road to realizing the full value of EFT/ERA transactions

In 2012, Congress and government regulators sought to simplify healthcare administration. Section 1104 of the Affordable Care Act expanded on HIPAA’s Administrative Simplification provisions and introduced operating rules to standardize business practices and encourage utilization of electronic transactions to streamline business processes.

In working with facilities and practices to integrate payment solutions, we’ve discovered the ideals of EFTs/ERAs – improved efficiency, the easy re-association, etc. – are not always matching the providers’ reality. The truth is providers are not always able to fully realize the value from these electronic transactions as was expected when the rules where created.

This reality has been documented within our industry by groups such as the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (Wedi), the Healthcare Administrative Technology Association (HATA), the American Dental Association and others.

Using our interactive roadmap, we invite you to explore the eight common roadblocks our clients have encountered on the road to realizing the full value of EFT/ERA transactions and the ways in which Zelis Payments has helped providers overcome them.
