Clearwater, FL – July 25, 2017 – Zelis Payments, a business unit of Zelis Healthcare, announced today that they have been selected as a finalist in this year’s Fierce Innovation Awards: Healthcare Edition 2017, an awards program from the publisher of FierceHealthcare. Zelis Payments was recognized as a finalist in the category of Financial/Operational Solutions.
All applications were evaluated based on the following criteria: Competitive Advantage, Financial Impact/Value, Market Need and Overall Innovation. Applicants with the top three scores in each category were selected as finalists. Zelis Payments was selected as a finalist for its innovative, industry leading product, VRA® with Smart Routing.
VRA with Smart Routing is an electronic solution designed for large hospitals and health systems. VRA (Virtual Reimbursement Account) takes the efficiency of electronic transactions a step further through aggregation of claim payments from multiple payers, which are delivered via a single ACH. Similarly, remittance data can be transmitted from multiple payers within a single file. Alternatively, a provider may choose to have payments and data consolidated by payer. VRA is combined with Zelis Payments’ Smart Routing service, which automates delivery to preferred locations by TIN, location or a combination of TIN/location carve outs. This gives hospitals and health systems access to funds and data at the designated endpoints within the organization, which speeds delivery and shortens the revenue cycle. Together these innovations help large healthcare providers fully realize and enhance the efficiency that electronic payments and data were intended to deliver.
Finalists were selected by a distinguished panel of judges from renowned U.S. hospitals and healthcare systems. The panel included Terry Booker, VP Corporate and Business Development, Independence Blue Cross (IBC); Roy DeLaMar, Internal Business Communications Manager, Cigna; Neal Ganguly, VP and CIO, JFK Health System; Deborah Gordon, VP Marketing Sales and Product Strategy, Tufts Health Plan; Jessica Grosset, VC of IT, Infrastructure and Operation, Mayo Clinic; Kurt Cwak, CIO, Proliance Surgeons; Roger Neal, CIO and VP, Information Technology, Duncan Regional Hospital; Todd Richardson, Senior VP/CIO, Aspirus; Edward Ricks, VP and CIO, Information Services, Beaufort Memorial Hospital; and Julie Slezak, EVP, Clinical Analytics, GNS Healthcare.
“Since inception, our goal is to be the leader in healthcare payments through uncompromising service and continuous innovation, “adds Jay Ver Hulst, President of Zelis Payments. “This honor encourages us to continue developing solutions that bring added value to our payer and provider clients.”
“We’re extremely honored to be selected by such a distinguished panel of healthcare professionals,” said Doug Klinger, CEO of Zelis Healthcare. “It provides validation that our focus on delivering value through innovative technology is exactly on point.”
